Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old time shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, "Old West" style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages.

CVS has a long history of Cowboy Action Shooting. Prior to the establishment of our new range, matches were held at the home of Carlos El Hombre as well as at the County range. With the new range, we have room for a wider variety of targets and can accommodate long range matches to over 200 yards. The range itself has plenty of challenging targets for traditional Cowboy Action Shooting. This includes a 5-point Texas Star, Tombstone Rack, and knockdown rifle, pistol, and shotgun targets. We also typically include either pocket pistol or on the clock loads in our matches. We are currently limiting ammunition to smokeless powder to mitigate fire concerns.
